Matty Brown came to FBM recently and put together this great video about how and why we make bikes in our own machine shop in Johnson City, NY.
Introducing the FBM Step Through City Bike prototype. It is the sister frameset to the FBM City Bike Prototype featured here in April.
Like the City Bike Prototype, it has a classic design, uses 650b wheels and a Sword fork with additional rake to provide the easy handling you want in a city bike. It’s tig welded, uses all 4130 Chromoly tubing and is made in the FBM Machine Shop in Johnson City, NY.
We’re working on a new frameset here at FBM and this is the latest prototype.
It’s a city bike; designed for cruising around town on those days you don’t want the aggressive track handling of your Sword.
We wanted the bike to have a classic look so we used a double diamond design for the frame and based the geometry around 650b wheels. The fork is a Sword fork with curved legs; providing the additional rake needed for the easy handling you want with a city bike. Like all our frames and forks, they are tig welded, use all 4130 Chromoly tubing, and are made in the FBM Machine Shop in Johnson City, NY.
Look for photos of the bike in action, a final prototype, specs, and options. We plan to make a limited run of this frameset later in the year. If you’re interested, contact us so that we can contact you once production is scheduled.
