The FBM Ballista Frameset

designed for hardcourt bike polo

Handcrafted in New York by FBM Bike Co. the Ballista is a tig welded, 4130 chromoly frameset designed for the specific needs of hardcourt bike polo players.

We started with the original FBM Sword frame geometry and tube set, and, with input from Evan George and Koyo Maeda of Seattle’s The Assassins, designed the Ballista. We increased the height of the headtube for a more upright riding position, decreased the height of the seat tube for more standover clearance above the top tube, used a bulge butted seat tube for more strength in the top tube / seat stay junction, and added optional front and rear canti mount brakes and optional front disc brakes. Check out the complete specs below.

Evan and Koyo, who rode prototype Ballistas in the 2013 Worlds, where The Assassins took 3rd place and Koyo was named MVP, have this to say about the frameset: “It’s the jam saucy, real buttery” – Koyo, “This is the dopest bike, it’s super fun to ride, I love it” – Evan.

The FBM Ballista framesets are made to order. Email us at sales@fbmbike.co  or give us a call at 607-257-3480.

How To Choose a Frame Size

First, measure your inseam.

How to measure your inseam
Stand with your back against a wall, your bare feet 6″ apart on a hard floor, and looking straight ahead. Place a book between your legs with one edge against the wall, and pull it up firmly into your crotch, simulating the pressure of your saddle while riding. Have a helper measure from the top edge of the book to the floor, in inches. This measurement is your inseam to be used when selecting you bicycle size, it is different than the inseam of your paints.

Our suggested sizes are as follows:

Size Inseam Range Height Range*
Small 31″ to 32″ 5’5″ to 5’9.5″
Medium 32.5″ to 33.5″ 5’8″ to 6’1″
Large 34″ to 35″ 5’11” to 6’4″

* We don’t suggest using height to determine your frame size due to the variation of body types for a particular height.
